Bilek announce two new 1/35 scale UAZ-452s in styrene
Bilek, an relatively obscure Czech manufacturer, have recently announced two new kits in plastic and photo-etch that are sure to be winners with 1/35 scale modellers, especially those looking for modern civilian type vehicles to add to their dioramas.
Both models are variations of the UAZ-452. The UAZ-452 is a 4×4 off road development of the 4×2 UAZ-450 van. Because of the external similarities with a loaf of bread, the car became known as Буханка (loaf) in Russian. The body of the car can be equipped with single side doors and folding doors at the rear (door hinges on the specific modifications).
The two vehicles Bilek are releasing (with links) are:
Both of these cost €25.20 direct from the Bilek on-line store. Have a look at the box art below:
Miniman Factory have also produced a series of UAZ-452 vehicles in resin, such as the UAZ-452 Russian Minivan, UAZ-452D Military Version and the UAZ-452D civilian version, but at nearly three times the cost of the Bilek offerings they are outside the buying power of many modellers.
