Show Report: Aircraft Enthusiasts Fair and Model Show 2010

For our last show of the year, NSMC headed over to Middle Wallop for the Aircraft Enthusiasts Fair and Model Show, held at the Museum of Army Flying. The Aircraft Enthusiasts Fair is a small show in terms of the number of clubs and traders in attendance, but this is more than compensated for by the amazing setting for the show. All the stands are located in one of the museum hangers with the display tables nestled up against the exhibits. Attendance the show includes entrance to the museum and a chance to look around the aircraft on display.
NSMC’s two tables where positioned under the tail rotor of a AH-1 Cobra which provided a great talking point for Club members John Cooper, Richard Dawes, Mal Linton-Auteis and Ian Shumsky, as well as Ian Sheppard was also in attendance with the Tank Museum Volunteer Modellers. Keeping in theme with the show, the Club’s display was just aircraft and helicopters in various scales and nationalities. Mal’s 1/35 Accurate Armour Lynx generated the most conversation, but John’s eclectic collection of aircraft proved to be the biggest hit with the younger show visitors.
In between manning the stand, perusing the kits and books on sale and grabbing a bangers and mash lunch in the “Apache Cafe”, we all managed a tour of the museum. There was lots to see and take in as well as the chance to get close to the exhibits and get some great reference photos. We will be posting a separate photo report on the museum in our Articles pages in a few days.
Despite the cold we had a great day out and we’re looking forward to next year’s show. Hopefully the Apache will be on display!
