About The Newbury Scale Model Club

Newbury Scale Model Club is one of West Berkshire’s longest serving model clubs. Established over 30 years ago, it has seen many changes and had several different homes. One thing that has not changed, however, is our member’s passion for building scale models. Our members are interested a wide range of subjects, styles and scales which provides many opportunities to share techniques and learn new ways of doing things.

Full Club subscription is currently £20 per year, due in January. If you decide to join the Club part way through the year, the subscription will be prorated accordingly. As a Club member you will be welcome to our monthly meetings, have a say in how the Club is run, gain free entry to certain model shows though the year, have use of the Club library and be allocated gallery space and ‘Subscriber’ access on this site, as well as becoming involved in a very friendly and enthusiastic modelling community.

Associate membership is also available for modellers outside of the Berkshire area who are unable to attend our monthly meetings, yet still wish to be a part of our Club. Please contact the Club Secretary for more details.

If you are interested in joining the Club, please feel free to attend one of our monthly meetings and see what we are about. Modellers of all ages, skills and subjects are welcome.

The Committee

The purpose of the Committee is to ensure the member’s interests and wishes are met by the Club. They are there to help the members and keep the Club running on an even keel. The Committee is comprised of four posts, as follows:

  • The Chairman: It is his job to keep the rest of us in order and on track and keep the members up to date.
  • The Secretary: It is his job to keep the club ticking over, minutes up to date, and feed info to the other Committee and Club members.
  • The Treasurer: It is his job to keep an eye on the accounts.
  • The Show Organiser: As a Club we support and visit many other club exhibitions around the country. The Show Organiser has the job of organising our Road Show, making sure our diary is full and we have enough modellers and displays to take to each show.

As a Model Club we follow the rules and guidelines as laid down by IPMS. These rules will be modified as and when required in accordance with the IPMS rules and subject to ratification by the Club members. Details of our Constitution can be inspected upon request.

Our Current Home

NSMC has chosen the Royal British Legion as our supported charity. As well as raising funds for the Legion, we also hold our Club meetings at the Royal British Legion Newbury Branch. There is a dress code enforced within the Royal British Legion organisation, and the Newbury Scale Model Club asks all of its members and visitors to comply with this rule. Casual dress is OK, however track suits, lounging suits and shorts are not allowed.

The Royal British Legion Newbury branch can be found at the following address:
