2011 Group Build – The Gulf War

Newbury Scale Model Club’s 2011 group build theme has been confirmed as The Persian Gulf War, or more commonly simply known as the Gulf War. 2011 marks the 20th anniversary of the short conflict which lasted between 2nd August 1990 and 28th February 1991.

The various campaigns of the war were known by many names, including Operation Desert Storm, Operation Granby, Operation FRICTION and Opération Daguet and featured men and equipment from 35 different nations. This presents a wide range of modelling options, such as aircraft, armour, figures and ships from many countries.

We will be adding a new page to the website in the coming weeks which will include some history of the war, details of some of the equipment used and pictures of the completed builds.

July’s Club meeting update and photos

July’s meeting had a good show of members and a great collection of models to look over and discuss, including a first look at the Group Build progress. The year’s upcoming meetings and Club outings were discussed, as well as the future of NewMod — but more about these in future updates. For the time being, check out the meeting photos below!

Just a quick reminder that tonight is July’s Club meeting from 7pm at the Royal British Legion, Newbury.

Please bring any recently finished or in-progress models as well as anything you have for the Club Group Build.

Please bear in mind that there is a dress code enforced within the Royal British Legion organisation, and the Newbury Scale Model Club asks all of its members and visitors to comply with this rule. Casual dress is OK, however track suits, lounging suits and shorts are not allowed.
