We have received confirmation that the date was available and our booking has been accepted. Confirmation of the date allows us to continue with planning and to start advertising. Trader and Club invites will be sent out in the next few days and the updates to NewMod website finalised.

Newbury Scale Model Club would like to say “Thank you” to Culver Financial Services Limited who’s sponsorship of the Club and our NewMod 2010 show has come to an end. Without their assistance we would have been unable to hold the 2010 show and we are very grateful for their help.

NSMC raise £250 for The Royal British Legion

Newbury Scale Model Club’s recent NewMod model show raised £250 pounds for The Royal British Legion, the Club’s chosen charity. It was with great pleasure that we were able to present the Legion with the donation at May’s Club meeting.

Bill Brignal, the Club Treasurer, presented The Royal British Legion, Newbury Committee members John Smith and Reverend Keri Eynon with a cheque for which the Club was warmly thanked.

The Royal British Legion is a UK charity that provides financial, social and emotional support to millions who have served and are currently serving in the Armed Forces, and their dependants.

Show Report: NewMod 2011

On April 2^nd Newbury Scale Model Club held NewMod 2011, our second scale model exhibition. In a change of venue, this year’s show was held at Park House School in Newbury and was attended by around 500 people, including traders, exhibitors and the visiting public.

We made full use of the venue, with the 45 stands spread over the main hall, gym, 6^th form common room and cafeteria. As well as the many model displays there was an active war game run by the Newbury and Reading Wargames Society, figure painting demonstrations by the Bristol BMSS and active Airfix ‘make and take’ table.

Congratulations to the Thames Valley Scale Model Club on being voted ‘Best Club Stand’ and to Phill Brookes and Alex Long for their ‘Best in Show’ award for their ‘Sidetracked’ diorama. We’ll be posting details of the other competition results in the next few days.

By the end of the day we managed to raise £250 for the Royal British Legion, so thank you to all traders, exhibitors and visitors for making the day a great success.

NewMod 2011 today!

Newbury Scale Model Club’s NewMod 2011 model show is today! The show is at Park House School, Andover Road, Newbury, Berkshire, RG14 6NQ and doors open to the public at 10 am. As well as trader and club stands, there is an Airfix ‘Make and Take’ area, various demonstrations and the Newbury & Reading Wargames Society will be running a game through the day. There are hot and cold refreshments available as well as free on-site parking.

It promises to be a busy day for everyone and we very much look forward to seeing you there.

One week to go until NewMod 2011!

There is just one week to go before Newbury Scale Model Club’s NewMod 2011 model show. The show is at Park House School, Andover Road, Newbury, Berkshire, RG14 6NQ and doors open to the public at 10 am. Practically all the preparations are complete and we’re just finalising the last details such as printing out the competition entry forms, slight re-jigging of the show floorplans and finishing off our models!

We’ve very much looking forward to the show and hope we will see you on the day.

NewMod website back on-line

NewMod 2011 Poster

The draft NewMod 2011 poster has been released. We’re just waiting for confirmation of the requested date from Park House School and once this is provided we’ll get the poster finished and printed ready for handing out at the various events the Club will be attending through the rest of the year.

The design of the poster has tried to remain close to the poster for NewMod 2010 and has kept the same backdrop and similar fonts. Once finished it will be available as A4, A5 and A6 sized pdf files, as well as a number of variously sized jpeg and png files.

We have also used this as an update to the NewMod website boilerplate while we complete the updates to the site.

NewMod website down for maintenance

The NewMod website is currently off-line while we make some adjustments to cater for NewMod 2011. Most of the work involves archiving off the NewMod 2010 pages, revising the show venue and date pages, updating the various site graphics and tidying up many of the miscellaneous pages and posts (i.e. fixing spelling mistakes, grammar, broken links, etc.). The website should be back up and running in the next couple of weeks.

NewMod 2011

Following the success of NewMod 2010 earlier this year, NSMC have decided to hold the show again next year. There will be a change of date and venue, but we aim to maintain the mix of clubs, exhibitors and traders which made NewMod 2010 an enjoyable experience for everyone. Planning is progressing well and we’ll be sharing more details on NewMod 2011 in the coming weeks.
