My partner's father-in-law, who retired as a Rear Admiral, served in submarines; and we have from him a German Model of a Typ XV11 U Boat - probably U1407 (later HMS Meteorite). The model is meticulous in detail; so I am intrigued by a rotating structure, 3m across, on the fore casing. Could this conceivably have been a radar nacelle?
For the record, I served some months of 1957 in HMS Excalibur.

I already hate flying in real aircraft whether it's a helicopter or plane and hearing this give's me no confidence in the airline staff and pilots. Things can go wrong so easily, i think I'll stick to my rc helicopter.

It's very interesting to see what the process is and get a look at the factory. I was expecting it to look little more organised than it is :)

Steve,

I'm sorry I haven't answered your e-mail before, I'm still finding my way around this site. The base is an old picture frame which gives a nice gold effect surround. The terrain was built up from pieces of foam or display board (bought locally in a 'HobbyCraft' shop I think it's about £10 for 5 A4 size sheets) and layered until I was satisfied with the height either side of the road section. Over this I used ordinary decorator's caulk bought from B&Q and worked it to shape while still wet. The tree and dead branches were from the root of a shrub in the garden.

Hope this helps and look forward to meeting you some time.
